ADST in my Library

I saw a super video by Tim Brown and started thinking about play, and how I can facilitate it in my library space. Here is a mind map.

    Hi Rupert,
Thanks for sharing your mind map. I really like how you organized this into the 4 section. The Annual events sounds very intriguing and a great idea (especially Inktober). I wonder if you might some how fit cross-curricular learning into it?

  2. hey Glen,
Thanks for your comment. I love the annual events. They incorporate learning outcomes from a variety of subjects. The Pine Car Races are a nice fit for Gr5 Science, Simple machines, but others like Day of Code span a bunch of disciplines like Art, LA, and Sci.

  3. Hi Rupert,
Great mind map. I love the concepts of play based learning. Student interests vary greatly from K-5. Would you have free play stations for all ages? How might you keep older learners engaged through play?

  4. Hi Shannon,
I think I would model free play stations after what we are doing in structured lessons. For example, If older kids were coding, free play might be access to computers to play on scratch, or code.org. I would organize the year so that like activities were grouped so that the set up could be minimized and the play maximized.
